Leslie has an international reputation for his work on outsourcing, information systems, IT strategies, evaluation and management, and organizational change. He is Professor in Technology Work and Globalization at London School of Economics. He was formerly professor at Warwick Business School, and reader at Oxford University where he worked as Fellow for 9 years. He is also visiting professor at the Universities of Melbourne and Erasmus. Associate Fellow at Templeton College, Oxford and for the last 16 years Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Technology. His doctorate in Information Systems is from Cambridge University.

He is co-author of 25 books, including Global IT Outsourcing: In Search Of Business Advantage (Wiley, 2001), Social Theory And Philosophy For Information Systems (Wiley, 2003) and Second Wave ERP (OUP, 2003). He has published over 150 refereed papers in journals such as Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, MIS Quarterly, Public Administration, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, EJIS, ISJ, MISQ Executive, CACM, and Journal of Management Studies. In February 2001 he won the PriceWaterhouseCoopers/Michael Corbett Associates World Outsourcing Achievement Award for his contribution to this field.

He is a regular keynote speaker at international practitioner and academic conferences, has extensive consulting experience, and is regularly retained as adviser and expert witness by major corporations and government institutions. Forthcoming titles are: Major Currents in The Information Systems Field (Sage, 2007) and Global Sourcing of Business and IT Services (Palgrave, 2006).
