Spans the spectrum from operators and policy makers at government agencies worldwide. Any part of an economy charged with providing basic government services falls under the public sector. It varies by country, but in most nations the public sector includes services such as the police, military, public roads, public transit, primary education and healthcare for the poor. (Healthcare as an enterprise is its own segment for BTM). Depending on the government, the public sector might provide services which benefit all of society rather than just the individual who uses the service (such as public education) and services that encourage equal opportunity. |
